Self-Service and Layout Editor

Handle introduces self-service features for faster customization, enabling on-the-fly changes and advanced workflows without developers.

One of Handle’s biggest benefits is how configurable it is to meet your specific needs. Well now this configuration can be done even faster. Standard templates can be used to set up your system quickly, and then we can configure things to give you a CRM that fits your business, workflows, and processes. Our challenge until now was finding a way to make these changes as quickly as possible.

That’s why we’re excited about the expansion of our new self-service features, which allow you and us to make changes on the fly without having to call in developers. This gives you:

  1. Better service: More flexibility to make quick changes to your system.
  2. Reference: See documentation of your workflows and processes inside the tool.
  3. Self-serve capability: Make changes to basic settings on your own.
  4. Speed: Complex modifications made on the fly — even during a meeting.

More Flexibility, Better Service

This update allows us to make complex modifications much faster. Instead of meeting with us to tell us what you want and then waiting for a developer to make those changes, we can now create workflows and modifications on the spot. You can see the changes immediately and share your responses in that same meeting.

In some situations, we’ve even been able to give advanced access to dealers, so they can build workflows and make some changes on their own.

Layout & Workflow Editor: The Key to Self-Service

The Layout & Workflow Editor allows us to go behind the scenes and build out your workflows without code. With it, we can customize every aspect of your setup, adapting it to your business, processes, and terminology.

These modifications may be as simple as moving fields around or as complex as creating conditional rules that only display information/fields based on another field.

Here are just a few of the things you can do in editor:

  1. Add and edit groupings, fields, and dropdown lists.
  2. Edit the header’s appearance, including icons, statuses, and dropdown features.
  3. Configure fields, how they behave, and how they appear on the screen.
  4. Add tooltips that pop up when a user hovers over different options.
  5. Set dynamic and conditional visibility, toggling on/off specific features.
  6. Set default values with conditions (if-then logic).
  7. Rename fields and options to suit your brand and processes.
  8. Create complex rules to streamline your workflows.

For instance, if you want to modify your Deal Packet setup, we can navigate to Deal Packet Edit to make those changes.

Documentation Inside Handle

Another benefit of the self-service update is the documentation it provides. It gives you visibility into where a field maps to, what it’s called, or how it works. It also shows you the rules that have been created, giving you a quick reference to people’s workflows and processes within the app.

For instance, when you create a quote from a deal, you create a relationship between those two documents. And that relationship is mapped out in a grid that displays linked relationships.

Set Default Layouts for All Users

All grids can be modified as needed. You can adjust the layout or pick the fields that appear on the screen. You can also see the inventory inside this deal or items related to it.

With Layout / Workflow Editor, all dealers have access to the same forms and fields, which means you can enable features that other dealers have implemented.

How the Layout & Workflow Editor Works

Edit Entity

Enter the Layout & Workflow Editor by clicking the Deal Packet label at the top of the New Deal Packet screen.

Once you’re in the editor, you will notice two major areas of the screen, the “Edit Entity” sidebar on the left and the details pane to the right.

At the top of the sidebar, begin by editing the name of the entity and its icon.

You can customize further by adding new fields or groups.

This pane also allows you to set permissions, rerun entity customization, import or export entity customizations, and even export a customization SQL.

As you move down the sidebar, you can edit the other groups that have been created, such as the header.

Continue customizing down through each sub-menu, altering icons, statuses, drop-down values, etc.

Layout / Workflow Editor lets you create settings at the entity level while at the same time allowing you to drill down to customize each field specifically. You can even add a “tool tip” that specifies what text will appear when the mouse hovers over a particular field.

Set Visibility

Other important features available in the Layout & Workflow Editor are visibility, default values, and dynamic scripts. These allow you to preset whether an item is always visible or only visible if certain conditions are met.

For example, if a deal is marked “tax-exempt,” there may be other data that is required.

See Relationships

When you associate items within Handle, you can see those relationships inside the grid. For example, this deal packet is associated with inventory, eSign, and bonus incentives.

Click any of those items, and you’ll see the associated documents or items. As an example, click Inventory and you’ll see a list of the inventory items in the deal packet.

Ready to Get Started?

Self-Service started out as a way for us to solve basic problems quickly, like moving fields around. Over time, it’s developed into a fully functional self-service application. And we’ve only just begun.

If you’re excited about being able to build your own workflows, we can unlock this advanced feature for you.  For more information, reach out to https://texadasoftware.com/support/
