Save Over
Handle's "Save Over" feature prevents accidental overwriting of changes during simultaneous document editing.
Two people working on the same file may not be aware of changes the other user may be making. Especially if they’re working in different parts of the file.
If one user saves while the other is still editing, they will overwrite any changes the second user is still working on.
To avoid this, Handle has introduced Save Over.
- Avoid costly errors from accidental overwrites of another team member’s work.
- Get alerted when another team member is making changes.
Avoid Overwrites with Save Over
The Save Over feature constantly checks to see if changes are being made — whether by another user or by an automated sync with another application. If it detects changes, it warns you that the record has been modified by another user and prevents you from saving the record.
You’ll see the following message:
Record was modified by another user.
To clear your changes and start again, press “Update.”
To cancel the save without clearing your changes, press “Cancel.”

In most cases when two people are working in the same file, one is viewing while the other is editing. But in cases where two or more users are unaware of the others’ editing activity, Save Over ensures valuable information isn’t overwritten.
The data can also be changed by an automation that syncs data through an integration. For example, you may have an integration set up that syncs your inventory record automatically. If that sync runs while you’re trying to make changes, when you try to save, you’ll see the warning and will be blocked from saving your changes.
If you see this popup, here’s how to proceed:
- Hit Cancel.
- Capture your changes.
- Refresh the page.
- Make your changes again.

Save Over needs to be enabled per entity. If you’d like to turn it on, let us know at https://texadasoftware.com/support/.
