Importing Leads

How to import leads using Handle’s import engine.

With Handle’s import engine, you can now pull in lists or leads from different sources quickly and effortlessly.

One of the most common imports we handle is the CLG (Customer Lead Generation) import.

  • Pulls in lists downloaded from outside sources
  • Generates leads for salespeople to follow up on
  • Creates the records and assignments automatically
  • Links duplicates to existing records in Handle

How People Are Using This Feature

When importing a list from another system, Handle can link existing customers to their record in the system, so you don’t have duplicates. You only need to mark those instances in the list before the import.

Handle can also automate assignments, follow-up, and alerts.

There are unlimited possibilities for processing your data:

  • Who you assign it to
  • Setting dates for follow-up
  • Setting reminder dates
  • Sending emails to tell people they’ve been assigned something

For example, you might want to set up a round robin where, based on the location of the lead, it’s assigned to one person, then moves to a different person, and another, and then back to somebody else.

We set these rules up when we configure the import type, and the automations are then part of the import itself.

How Does This Work?

Importing your list is a 4-step process:

Step 1: Create a new import.

Click “add new.” Then, select the type of import you want to create.

Select “Add new.”

Select the type of import

When you select CLG lead, there’s a set of predetermined rules in the background that determine what the engine will be looking for in the document you’re uploading and what it’s going to do with those leads.

Step 2: Give the report a name.

Be sure to follow the naming convention we set up for you.

Step 3: Upload your file.

You must upload the type of document (TXT or CSV) specified for this type of import. Just drag and drop it to attach it.

Step 4: Select “Run” and “Save.”

When you see the attached files, you can select “run” and then “save.” The import then starts automatically.

If the import engine finds any errors or issues with the data, it will tell you what those errors are.
