Security (Sales & Service)

An overview of the Manage Security screen in ServiceLink, Service Agreement Quoting, and Parts & Service Quoter.

Quick Reference

  • The Security screen is a role management tool that allows you to control which functions users are able to access. To access this tool, open the Settings menu (gear icon in top-right corner of the screen), then select Equipment Link AdminSecurity (ServiceLink and Parts & Service Quoter), or Manage Security (Service Agreement Quoting).
  • Use the Module drop-down to toggle between editing permissions ServiceLink, Service Agreement Quoting, and Parts & Service Quoter.
  • Use the Area drop-down to only show permissions for the selected product area.
  • Select a user role from the Role drop-down to switch to a role-centric view that allows you to edit permissions for a single user role. This view also lists the users who currently have that role.
  • Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen to access additional options, including reloading or exporting the permission list.
  • Click the pencil icon to the right of a permission to edit the user roles that have access to it.

Introduction

The Security screen in ServiceLink, Service Agreement Quoting, and Parts & Service Quoter is a role management tool that allows you to control which functions users are able to access. 

To access this tool in ServiceLink and Parts & Service Quoter, open the Settings menu (gear icon in top-right corner of the screen) and select Equipment Link Admin, then select Security in the left navigation menu.

To access this tool in Service Agreement Quoting, open the Settings menu (gear icon in top-right corner of the screen), then select Manage Security in the left navigation menu.

Security

  1. Module Selector
    Use this drop-down to toggle between managing permissions for ServiceLink, Service Agreement Quoting, and Parts & Service Quoter. Each module has its own product areas, roles, and list of permissions. 
  2. Area Selector
    Select a product area from the drop-down to show permissions only for that area. 
  3. Role Selector
    Select a user role from the drop-down to view and edit permissions only for that role. See “Role View” for more information.
  4. Options
    Click the gear icon to access additional options:
    • Reload: Reload the list of permissions.
    • Export to Excel: Export the list of permissions as a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) file. Depending on your browser’s settings, you may be prompted to select a download location, or the file may be automatically downloaded to your Downloads folder.
    • Save Configuration
    • Reset Configuration
  5. Show / Hide Columns
    Click the eye icon to see the list of columns in the permissions table, then click on a column name to show or hide it.
  6. Expand / Collapse Area
    Click on a product area header to expand or collapse it. Ctrl+click a header to collapse all other product areas.
  7. Permission
    Individual permissions appear as rows in the permission list. If a permission is enabled for a particular user role, a green check mark will appear in that role’s column.
  8. Edit Permission
    Click the pencil icon next to a permission to edit the user roles that have access to it. See “Edit Permission” for more information.

Edit Permission

Click the pencil icon to the right of a permission in the permissions list to edit it. This will open the Role Access Edit window.

  1. Permission Information
    The permission’s name and description. 
  2. Role Access
    The user roles that have access to the permission. 
  3. Update Button
    Click to save your changes.
  4. Cancel Button
    Click to close the window without saving your changes.

Role View

Select a user role from the “Role” drop-down on the Security page to switch to a role-centric view. This view allows you to focus on setting permissions for a single user role while providing a list of users with that role.

  1. Update Button
    Click to save your changes.
  2. Cancel Button
    Click to discard any unsaved changes and return to the Security screen.
  3. Access Checkbox
    Click the checkbox next to a permission to enable or disable it for the current role.
  4. Role User List
    Users who currently hold the role being edited are listed here.
