Analytics Write Access

In This Article

Introduction

Analytics is a powerful report visualization and development tool powered by Microsoft Power BI. In addition to the standard reports offered with this tool, it is possible for users with Pro and Premium PowerBI licenses to create custom reports.

Requirements

To create reports in Analytics, a user must have ALL of the following:

  1. A TexadaOne Enterprise agreement (per organization)
Viewing of Standard Reports is included with TexadaOne Pro. TexadaOne Enterprise is required for write access.
  2. Contributor access within Analytics (per user)
This must be configured by Texada for the requested users. To manage your organization’s list of contributors, please contact your Texada account representative.
  3. A Microsoft PowerBI license (per user)
In addition to contributor access, each user also needs their own Power BI Pro or PowerBI Premium Per User license. See “Licensing Details” for more information.

Users who meet the above requirements will be able to both view shared reports as well as create and edit their own reports using Texada’s curated datasets.

Licensing Details

While viewing Analytics reports is free of charge under Texada’s Premium capacity setup, Microsoft requires a paid license for any user who wishes to create or edit content. To author Analytics reports, each user will need one of the following:

  • Power BI Pro (Standard authoring)
  • Power BI Premium Per User (PPU) (Advanced analytics)

These licenses can be purchased directly through Microsoft.

Confirm whether you already have a license

Many organizations already include Power BI Pro in their Microsoft 365 packages (such as E5). To verify this:

  1. Log into app.powerbi.com.
  2. Click your Profile Picture in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Look for "Pro" or "Premium Per User" under your account name.

Upgrade from a Free license to a Pro license

If you currently have a Free license, you can obtain a Pro license in the following ways:

  • Via Internal IT: Contact your company’s IT or Procurement department to request a Power BI Pro license be assigned to your account.
  • In-Product Upgrade: If your company allows self-service, you can often click the "Try Free" or "Upgrade" buttons directly within Power BI to start a 60-day trial or purchase a seat.
  • Direct Purchase: You can purchase an individual license via the Microsoft Power BI Pricing Page.  As of 2026, standard Pro pricing is $14/user/month.
