Event Types

An overview of the Event Types page in Service Agreement Quoter.

Quick Reference

  • The Event Types page contains a list of the Event Types in your system, and allows you to enable, disable, add, edit, and delete Event Types. To access this page, navigate to the Admin section of SAQ (click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen), then select “Event Types” from the left navigation menu.
  • Click the “Add” Type” button in the top-right corner of the page to create a new Event Type. 
  • Click the Edit button to the right of an Event Type to edit it. Click the Delete button to delete it.
  • Check the “Enabled” checkbox to the left of an Event Type to enable it. Uncheck this box to disable it.

Introduction

Event Types can be thought of as a series of filters that control which of the Standard Jobs in your ERP system will be made available for use as Events (Standard Jobs) and Flat Rate Exchanges in SAQ. The Event Types page contains a list of the Event Types in your system, and allows you to enable, disable, add, edit, and delete Event Types.

To access this page, navigate to the Admin section of SAQ (click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen), then select “Event Types” from the left navigation menu.

Event Types

  1. Event Types Table
    This table contains a list of the Event Types in the system. Click on a column header to sort the table by that column. Click and drag the column headers to change the order of columns. Click and drag the vertical bars between the columns to resize the columns.
  2. Save Button
    Click to save your changes.
  3. Add Type Button
    Click to create a new Event Type. See “Add / Edit Event Type” for more information.
  4. Enabled Checkbox
    Check this box to enable an Event Type. Uncheck this box to disable it.
  5. Edit Button
    Click to edit an Event Type. See “Add / Edit Event Type” for more information.
  6. Delete Button
    Click to delete an Event Type.

Event Types - Columns

The Event Types table comprises the following columns:

  • Enabled: Contains the Enabled checkbox.
  • Event Type: The Event Type’s name.
  • Category: The Event Type’s category. Categories are managed via the “Categories” page.
  • Parts: Contains a green check mark if the Parts component of Events matching this Event Type will be included when added to a Quote.
  • Labor: Contains a green check mark if the Labor component of Events matching this Event Type will be included when added to a Quote.
  • Misc: Contains a green check mark if the Misc component of Events matching this Event Type will be included when added to a Quote.
  • Override: Contains a green check mark if the Event Type's Parts, Labor, and Misc inclusions can be changed at the time it is added to a Quote.
  • Job Code: The Event Type’s three-digit Job Code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Component Code: The Event Type’s four-digit Component Code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Modifier Code: The Event Type's modifier code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Business Group: The Event Type's business group (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Quantity Code: The Event Type's quantity code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Work App Code: The Event Type's work app code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Cab Type Code: The Event Type's cab type code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Job Location Code: The Event Type's job location code (Caterpillar SMCS code).
  • Job Condition Code: The Event Type's job condition code.
  • Shop/Field: Indicates whether the Event is a Shop (S) Event or Field (F) Event.
  • Sort Order: The Event Type's sort order. By default, Event Types are displayed in ascending sort order.
  • Actions: Contains the Edit and Delete buttons.

Add / Edit Event Type

Click the “Add” Type” button in the top-right corner of the Event Types screen to create a new Event Type. Click the Edit button to the right of an existing Event Type to edit it.

Required fields are marked with a red asterisk .

  1. Event Type
    The Event Type’s name.
  2. Category
    The Event Type’s category. Categories are managed via the “Categories” page.
  3. Enabled
    Check this box to enable the Event Type. Uncheck this box to disable it.
  4. Job Code
    The 3-digit SMCS code indicating the type of work the Event represents (assemble, repair, align, adjust, etc.)
  5. Component Code
    The 4-digit SMCS code indicating the component to which the Event Type applies.
  6. Modifier
    The Event Type’s modifier SMCS code. Modifier codes allow you to further define the part of the equipment on which the service is being performed.
  7. Business Group
    The Event Type’s business group SMCS code.
  8. Qty Code
    The Event Type’s quantity SMCS code. 
  9. Work App
    The Event Type’s work app SMCS code.
  10. Cab Type
    The Event Type’s cab type SMCS code.
  11. Job Location
    The Event Type’s job location SMCS code. 
  12. Job Condition
    The Event Type’s job condition code.
  13. Shop/Field
    Select whether the Event is a Shop (S) Event or a Field (F) Event.
  14. Filter Pricing By
    Select whether the Parts, Labor, and/or Misc components of Events matching this Event Type should be included on the Quotes to which they are added. Any combination of the three options can be chosen.
  15. Manually Override
    Check this box to allow the User to modify the Parts, Labor, and Misc values of Events matching this Event Type at the time they are added to a Quote. Uncheck this box to disallow the User from editing these values.
  16. Apply To
    Select whether this Event Type applies to Standard Jobs, Flat Rate Exchanges, neither, or both. Enabling these checkboxes will make Events matching this Event Type available on the Standard Jobs and/or Flat Rate Exchange screens.
  17. Frequency Type
    Select a frequency type for this Event Type, i.e. how the recommended frequency of this Event Type is measured: days, hours, kilometers, miles, months, weeks, or years.
  18. Restrict by Contract Type
    Select the Contract type(s) to which Events matching this Event Type may be applied. Click on the field to display a list of Contract types, then click on a Contract type to select it. Click the ‘X’ icon next to a Contract type to remove it. If no Contract types are selected, Events matching this Event Type will be applicable to all Contracts.
  19. Sort Order
    The position in which this Event Type will appear in the list of Event Types. Event Types are displayed in ascending sort order.
  20. Save Button
    Click to save your changes.
  21. Cancel Button
    Click to close the window without saving.
