Set the work order posting type to determine what occurs in SRM (Systematic Rental Management) when the work order’s status is changed to Closed. 

Note: You can change the work order posting type for a work order at any time, except if the ticket is in Closed status.

Use the following table to determine what posting type you should use:

Posting Type

When to use

Type of invoice created

What occurs in SRM when the work order is closed

Standard Invoice

Any time, except for the below scenarios

Creates a standard work order invoice

Posts the work order to the standard Cost of Goods Sold and Revenue Account for any parts used on the work order

Customer Damage

The customer needs to pay for the servicing required on the rental equipment 

Creates a work order invoice for the servicing

Posts the work order to the standard Cost of Goods Sold - Customer Repair and Revenue Account - Customer Repair for parts used on the work order

Customer Repair

A repair was carried out on customer-owned equipment

Creates a work order invoice for the repairs

Posts the work order to the Cost of Goods Sold - Customer Repair and Revenue Account - Customer Repair for parts used on the work order

Internal Work Order

A repair was carried out on your equipment while it was in your possession and will not be billed to a customer

Posts the work order to the standard Cost of Goods Sold and Revenue account for parts used on the work order


Note: The item being serviced must be in SRM in one of:

  • Sales Inventory
  • Rental Inventory
